A good no
A good no
by Joel Howard
When we let go
How we let go
When we look away
And give in to “no”
No matter how hard
It is to relent
Each righteous no
Is a no well spent
Have you anxiety?
Can you not get enough?
Try budgeting yesses
Try saying, “Enough”
For when each of us passes
And serves those with no home
Our riches somehow increase
Even in a no
Try giving today
Giving space for another
Try hiding away
Try praying for a brother
Instead of pressing into
The front of the line
Child, put your hand down
There will be a next time
Child say no today
Watch as He stays the same
